Established in 1973 as Nepal's first national park, Chitwan covers 932 km² of subtropical lowland forest and grassland in the Terai region. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
The park is one of the last remaining undisturbed natural habitats in the Terai. It protects populations of the greater one-horned rhinoceros and Bengal tiger, as well as gharial and mugger crocodiles, sloth bears, leopards, gaur (Indian bison), four-horned antelopes, and hundreds of species of birds.
Our lodge sits within the Meghauli sector — the park's western buffer zone — providing guests with direct, responsible access to this extraordinary ecosystem.
