A little preparation goes a long way. Here is what we recommend packing for your stay at Chitwan Bamboo Lodge.
In the jungle it is best to wear dark-coloured, long-sleeved clothing that covers your arms and legs. This keeps insects away and helps you blend in with the environment.
Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes or light hiking boots are essential. You will be walking on uneven jungle terrain.
Binoculars are a must for wildlife spotting — especially for birdwatching and observing animals from a safe distance.
A good insect repellent is essential for the Terai lowlands, especially at dawn and dusk.
Please make sure to bring enough cash, as there are no places to exchange money in Meghauli. The nearest exchange facilities are in Bharatpur/Narayanghat.
You will want to capture every moment — from rhino sightings to the stunning Rapti River sunsets. Bring a good camera and spare batteries.
A reusable water bottle is recommended. We encourage guests to minimise single-use plastic.
Bring any personal medication you may need. A small first aid kit with plasters and antiseptic is also a good idea.
There are no ATMs or money exchange facilities in Meghauli. Please make sure to bring sufficient cash (Nepali Rupees or USD) before arriving. The nearest exchange facilities are in Bharatpur or Narayanghat, approximately one hour away by jeep.
