Conservation
Every decision at the lodge is made with environmental impact in mind. Here is what that looks like in practice.
The lodge generates a significant proportion of its electricity needs from rooftop solar panels. We are working toward being fully solar-powered.
We have eliminated single-use plastic from the lodge. Guests receive filtered water in reusable bottles and all packaging is replaced with natural or recycled alternatives.
A solar-powered water filtration system provides safe drinking water on-site, eliminating the need for plastic bottles entirely.
All organic kitchen waste is composted and returned to the organic garden. Nothing goes to landfill that can go back into the soil.
Our kitchen garden grows herbs and vegetables for the lodge kitchen using organic methods. Pesticides and artificial fertilisers are not used.
The lodge is built almost entirely from bamboo, mud, and natural materials. No concrete where bamboo will do.
