The aerial view of Chitwan's rivers and grasslands is spectacular. Here is everything you need to know about using a drone responsibly in and around the Chitwan area.
Drone flights inside Chitwan National Park require a special permit from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. Flying without a permit is illegal and can result in significant fines and equipment confiscation.
We can assist guests who wish to apply for official drone permits for inside-park filming. Documentary and commercial productions must also obtain separate Ministry of Information approval.
Even with permits, drone flights must not disturb wildlife. Approaches to nesting birds, large mammals, and crocodile basking sites are prohibited.
Drone flights over the lodge grounds, the adjacent Rapti River (from the lodge side), and the Meghauli area outside park boundaries are permitted with local civil aviation registration.
The aerial views from the lodge grounds are genuinely beautiful — the Rapti winding through the valley, the lodge's bamboo structures, and the park's forest stretching to the hills.
Contact us in advance if you plan to bring a drone and we will advise on local registration requirements and the best flying windows.
