Photography
Chitwan offers extraordinary photography opportunities — from rhinoceros at the water's edge to kingfishers on a branch, tigers in dappled forest light, and gharials warming on the riverbank.
Go at dawn
Light is golden for the first 90 minutes after sunrise. Most large mammals are active. Mist over the grassland adds atmosphere.
Wear neutral colours
Khaki, olive, brown — anything that does not stand out. Bright colours disturb wildlife and make you visible from far away.
Use longer lenses
200-500mm gives you working distance without approaching too closely. Respect for wildlife makes for better photography, not less.
Use burst mode
Wildlife moves unpredictably. Burst mode captures expressions and moments that a single shot would miss.
Wait patiently
Our best wildlife photographs are taken by guests who sit still and let the animals come to them.
