Sustainability
Plastic waste is one of the most visible environmental problems in Nepal. We have eliminated single-use plastic from the lodge entirely and take an active role in waste reduction in the local community.
Nepal has banned single-use plastic bags — and we go further. No plastic water bottles, no plastic packaging, no plastic straws or cutlery at the lodge. Guests receive filtered water in reusable bottles. All purchasing decisions are made with packaging in mind.
Organic waste — kitchen scraps, garden trimmings — goes to our composting system and returns as soil amendment for the garden. We operate a zero-waste-to-landfill policy for organic material.
Non-organic recyclable waste is sorted and sent to the nearest recycling facility via local collection. We weigh and track all waste to monitor our reduction progress over time.
